SeQueenArt :
Enchanting the world one sequin at a time.

SeQueenArt is my practice of transforming remembrance, spirit, and story into hand-sewn works of art.

Using thousands of sequins, beads, and individual stitches, I create textile portraits honoring ancestors, cultural icons, sacred figures, and those who have passed. Each piece unfolds slowly through intuition, connection, and time—allowing the person and their story to emerge, one sequin at a time.

Influenced by the tradition of Haitian drapo and my mentorship with Haitian artist Edgard Jean Louis, my work carries that artistic lineage forward through a practice that is distinctly my own.

Watch the Work Come to Light

Each SeQueenArt piece begins with a story—and then comes the slow, intentional work of bringing that story into form.

The short videos below offer glimpses into that process: choosing colors, placing sequins, adding beads, following intuitive direction, and watching a portrait gradually come to life beneath my hands.

Some pieces take months—or even years—to complete. These brief moments cannot show every stitch, but they can invite you into the patience, devotion, and unexpected magic held within the making.

Be sure to check out the full length video on my channel to see the whole process. Sky is a non-traditional sequin flag (drapo) artist who blends styles, techniques, and her unique interpretations to create one of a kind spiritual art pieces. Each flag depicts the symbol or image of the spirit to which it is devoted and can take anywhere for a few months to years to complete. The flags are sewn into a brilliant mosaic of sequins and beads that create the story of the spirit which they depict. Containing tens of thousands of hand stitched sequins infused with prayer and energy they are beautiful collectables.

Stories Told in Sequins
My portraits often honor people who are no longer physically present but whose lives, influence, and spirit continue to move through the world.
Some are ancestors. Some are cultural or spiritual figures. Some are beloved family members whose stories deserve to be carried forward. Through each portrait, I create a place where remembrance becomes tangible—and where love, beauty, history, and connection can continue to be seen.

The Art of the Process
Every SeQueenArt piece is sewn entirely by hand. A single portrait may contain tens of thousands of individually placed sequins and beads, while larger works and installations may contain hundreds of thousands.
The process cannot be rushed. Each stitch becomes part of the image, but it also becomes part of the time, attention, prayer, and intention held within the finished work.
This is slow art. Sacred art. Storytelling through cloth, color, light, and repetition.

Commission a Story in Sequins
SeQueenArt commissions may honor an ancestor, beloved family member, cultural figure, sacred presence, or meaningful part of your personal story.
Every commission is created as a one-of-a-kind work of textile art. The size, imagery, materials, timing, and intention are thoughtfully considered before the sewing begins.
Because each piece requires a significant investment of time and care, I accept a limited number of commissions.

Exhibitions, Artist Talks, and Collaborations
SeQueenArt is available for exhibitions, artist talks, cultural and community programming, commemorative projects, collaborative installations, and live conversations about art, ancestry, intuition, and the creative process.
I welcome opportunities to share both the completed work and the stories held within its making.
